Doing Good

I love being at home with Parker. One of the things I love about it is that I have more opportunities to "do good" and to teach Parker to "do good" too.

Everyone knows my biggest passion in my life is helping homeless dogs and cats. We frequently visit the Humane Society and pass out treats, play with cats, and walk a dog. I wish he could do more but he's still to little to do some things.
A friend posted on facebook that the Batesville School District food pantry is very low. I told her we'd donate some food and in the process it would teach Parker a lesson.

I began thinking about it. This food at this pantry goes home with kids who have no food at home. Then my mind began to wander, (as it usually does), and I put Parker in their shoes. What would it be like if we had no food at our house? If Parker gets hungry, he goes to the pantry and picks out a snack. And there's about 20 different choices for a snack at our house. I found it really hard to think about my precious child going hungry and not being able to eat.

So, we picked out some foods that Parker enjoys eating and dropped it off. I talked to Parker about why we did this and he listened. I know he doesn't really understand right now, but at some point he will. I hope he gets in the routine of helping those who are less fortunate.
